Eating, drinking, Chewing gum or tobacco, and smoking are pro- <br /> hibited in the contaminated or potentially contaminated area of <br /> where the possibility for the transfer of contamination exists. <br /> 2. Avoid contact with ;Potentially atntaminated substances. Do not <br /> walk through puddles, pools, mud, etc. Avoid, whenever <br /> possible, kneeling or, the ground and leaning or sitting on <br /> equipment or ground. Do not place monitoring equipment on <br /> potentially contaminated surface (i.e. , ground, etc. ). <br /> 3. All field crew members should make use of their senses (all <br /> senses) to alert them to potentially dangerous situations in <br /> which they should not become involved (i.e., presence of <br /> strong, irritating or nauseating odors). <br /> C Prevent, to the extent possible, spillages. In the event that <br /> a spillage occurs, contain liquid if possible. <br /> 5. Prevent splashing of the contaminated materials. <br /> 6. Yield crew membars shall be familiar with the physical charac- <br /> teristics of investigations, including; <br /> ' Hind direction in relation to ground-zero area; <br /> ' Acevssibility <br /> _} to assxiates, equipment, vehicles; <br /> ' Communications; <br /> not Zone (srsaa of know , ar ausaected contamination) ; <br /> ' Site accesa; and <br /> ? ` Nearest water sources. <br /> 7. The numbef of personnel and equipment in the contaminated area <br /> should be minimized but only to the extent consistent with <br /> workfcrce requirements of safe site operations. <br /> 8. All wtrLeu ge::erated during Dames & Moore and/or subcontractor <br /> activities at the site will be disposed of as directed by the <br /> Project ManAgee. <br />
