1LV SNIFFER <br /> battery Check <br /> Turn MODE selector knob from OFF position to BATT TEST <br /> position . The miter pointer should come to rest in the <br /> BATTERY GOOD range of the scale. <br /> Setting Meter Pointer To Zero <br /> 1 . Attach the air sampling probe connector to the instrument <br /> intake on the left side of the case by pulling bacK the <br /> spring collar of the connector and pressing the connector <br /> over the intake. <br /> 2. Place the instrument in the position in which the meter <br /> indication will be read . <br /> NOTE : Heat distribution from active and reference f1lla- <br /> ments of the detector sensor changes from vertical to <br /> horizontal position . The resulting change in electrical <br /> balance between elements causes a shift in pointer zero <br /> from one position to the other. <br /> 3. Set MUDE SELECTOR switch to FPM x 100 and operate the <br /> instrument for 10 minutes to allow the circuits to stabil- <br /> ize . <br /> 4. In fresh air; set the ZERO ADJUST knob at the midpoint <br /> (five fall turns from either extreme position) . <br /> 5. Turn the course ad.;ustrtient screw to move the meter pointer <br /> to zero on the meter scale, <br /> 6. Turn the tu]UE SELECTOR switch to the PPM x, 10 position and <br /> turn the ZERO ADJUST knob to set the pointer to zero. <br /> 7. Turn the MOUE SELECTOR switch to the PPM x 1 position and <br /> turn the ZERO ADJUST knob to set the pointer to zero, <br /> Operation <br /> 1 . Turn the MOUE SELECTOR control knob to BATT TEST position <br /> and read the condition of Vie battery on the meter dial . <br /> Recharge batteries if necessary . NOTE: Do not recharge <br /> unless the battery is almost completely discharged . <br /> 2. Turn the MODE SELECTOR control to the desired operating <br /> rang*. <br /> 3. Allow a ten minute warmup period with the instrument in <br /> Sume position (orientation ) as it is to be used in service . <br /> 4 . Read and record the results. <br />
