•
IV. POSSIBLE REMEDIAL ACTIONS
It is Marley ' s opinion that at this point it is premature to
j specify remedial measures which will be utilized for ground water
ii quality enhancement and soils contamination mitigation at the
i
Stockton site. The nature and extent of. water and soils
contamination have not been sufficiently delineated to date.
However , it is currently possible to discuss a number of
potential' measures which would appear to have utility in the
improvement of ground water and soils quality underlying the
tMarley facility. This section contains such discussions and
delineates Marley 's intent to agressively pursue remedial
measures which can be determined to be mutually acceptable to
both Marley and the involved regulatory agencies.
A. Surface Water Containment and Disposal
l
1 . Paving of Retort and Drip Pad Area. Marley is
committed to the design and installation of surface
sealing /paving of the entire retort , drip pad , and wood
preservative storage tank process areas at the site. The paving
compound chosen will have been tested to insure that the material
will be chemically and structurally compatible with the with the
environment at the process areas and will insure that the areas
are sealed to prevent further contamination of the soil and
{
_ ground water regimes.
18
