predicated on data obtained during the definitional phase
( discussed in Chapter 11. Preliminary investigations conducted to
!! date by Marley indicate that the Systems will include reworking
Of yard drainage sub - systems , redesign and construction of the
existing storm retention pond , evaluation , design and
installation of wastewater treatment equipment to render the
runoff aceptable for ultimate disposal , and definition of an
ultimate disposal method acceptable to Marley andthe involved
regulatory agencies. Potential disposal methods include recycle
j to process if capacity is available , discharge to surfacewaters
[ under regulation by NPOES permit , discharge to local POTW under
regulation by pre- treatment standards, and reinjection to the
ground water regime , discussed later in this section.
I
6. Reworking of Existing Storm Water Retention Ponds.
E Marley acknowledges that the existing storm water retention
pond
is a potential source of subsurface contamination and is
committed to remedy of the p'ond's deficiencies. Marley proposes
to rework the existing pond consistent with the contaminated
runoff system program discussed above. Sludge materials which
have accumulated in the existing pond will be removed and
disposed in an acceptable manner. The new pond will incorporate
an appropriate liner to satisfy the regulations which apply to
potential hazardous waste storage ponds. An early warning leak
detection system acceptable to the regulatory agencies will be
installed in conjunction with the pond liner and sampled at an
appropriate frequency.
21
