The
headquarters for the Marley Cooling Tower Company is Mission, Kansas .
The Stockton facility remanufactures and fabricates wood component parts
for water cooling towers. Wood treating is a part of the above business.
The main portion of the facility was built in 1942. Until 1966, all wood
treatment was done at off-site facilities such as Koppers and McCormick
and Baxter. In 1966, the wood treatment section of the facility was built.
After 1972, almost everything fabricated at this facility was treated
on-site.
From 1966 until 1982, the wood treatment chemical used was chromated copper
arsenate (CCA) . Presently, acid copper chromate (ACC) is the wood treat-
ment chemical being used. The change to ACC was made to prevent further
problems with arsenic contamination.
