f y
2
submittal of a time schedule in the July 10 , 1985 Progress
Report.
o Bruce Long, from Black and Veatch, told MCTC that
percolation from the wastewater pond is minimal. He
feels that there is no mounding of groundwater under
the pond. Bob Fujii mentioned that prior drywell
installation could have changed the percolation rate.
MCTC wants to close the pond as a part of the final mitigation
process rather than this summer, as requested by DHS. Tony
Landis reminded IICTC that the pond is being used illegally and
that the pond must be permitted for continued use.
o The Community Relations Plan is being prepared by Debra
English of Black and Veatch and will be submitted to
DHS in July.
o MCTC is considering a closed loop system (ion exchange
system) to pull heavy metals out of the waste stream.
The end product would be used for process (make-up)
water.
MAR:jka
