Based on our conversation yesterdayand the
PHS-EHD letters sent to American Forest Products dated March 13, 1996 and April 11, 1996,
the PHS-EHD has approved American Forest Products Proposed Monitoring Plan dated
December 15, 1995. As set forth in such plan, upon completion of five years of bi-annual
groundwater level measurements and annual TPH-D groundwater quality analysis and following a
confirmatory soil sampling program, the PHS-EHD will entertain final closure on this tank
removal/remediation project. The PHS-EHD has agreed that the additional investigation of the
groundwater for solvent contamination requested in its letter dated March 13, 1996 will not be
required in connection with obtaining such final tank closure.
Denver London Los Angeles New York Washington D.C.
