 s ,
4 ..
Doug Westerhaven Page 2'
The workplan describes the installation of a boring and monitoring well in a downgradient
position from the former waste oil tank location. A soil sample from the boring will be obtained
every five feet. This soil data will assess possible changes in subsurface conditions when
compared to data from previously bored SB-15 which was drilled adjacent to the proposed
boring location. The boring will terminate 80 feet below ground surface and will be completed
as a monitoring well.
Gradient maps from 1987 to 1991 indicate a northern gradient fluctuating between 315 degrees
north west and 45-degrees north east. The May 13, 1994 gradient map indicates a shift in s
gradient to 90 degrees due east. PHS/EHD recommends that the location of the proposed
monitoring well be delayed until gradient has been determined.
}
For this site to be considered in compliance with Title 23, Division 3, Chapter 16, Article 11
of the California Code of Regulations quarterly reporting shall continue until closure is complete.
Quarterly reporting shall consist of quarterly depth to water measurements and annual analytical
sampling of the monitoring wells for TPH-d in addition to the requirements of Section 2642 (d)
of Article 5 of Chapter 16.
A workplan for installation of a soil remediation option as described in the Technical Report
shall be submitted to PHS/EHD by March 15, 1995.
For further information please contact Steven Sasson at (209) 468-3459.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Steven Sasson, Senior REHS Diane M.
