Weber Avenue, 3rd Floor
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Re: Former America Forest Products Company Facility
2801 West Lane
Stockton California
Dear Diane:
Confirming my voicemail messages left Monday and previously, I would
appreciate the opportunity to speak to you concerning Steve Sasson's response to the monitoring st
program submitted at your request by Dames&Moore with respect to the former American
Forest Products ("AFP") facility in Stockton and the status of this matter generally in light of the
r
attached documents.
f.
To briefly review, we reached oral agreement late last year to the effect that, upon
completion of five years of biannual groundwater level'-measurements and annual TPH-d
groundwater quality analyses and a followup confirmatory soil sampling program, PHS-EHD
would entertain final closure on this tank removal.project. On behalf of AFP, on December 15,
1995, Dames& Moore submitted a Monitoring Program which embodied all of these points. We
have not received a formal response from PHS-EHD to the Monitoring Program submittal.
However, in reacting informally to the submittal in a conversation with Jeff Bold of Dames&
Moore, I understand that Steve Sasson linked the UST-related closure at this site with additional
requests: (1)to remediate a small area of pentachlorophenol contamination, and (2)to conduct
additional groundwater testing for VOCs. As I've indicated in my voicemails, it had been my
impression from our conversations that, provided AFP successfully completed the program of
monitoring embodied in the Dames&Moore plan, and the confirmation soil sampling called for
Chicago Denver Los Angeles New York
