,k w ~ � • <br /> 11.0 SAFE WORK PRACTICES <br /> 111 GENERAL <br /> 1 Eating, drinking, chewing gum or tobacco, and smoking are prohibited in <br /> the contaminated or potentially contaminated area or where the possibility <br /> for the transfer of contamination exists <br /> 2 All personnel will enter designated work areas only through the <br /> contamination reduction zone (CRZ) All personnel leaving an <br /> exclusion/work zone must exit through the CRZ and pass through the <br /> decontamination station as described in Section 10 0 <br /> 3 Personnel will wash their hands and face thoroughly with soap and water <br /> prior to eating, drinking or smoking <br /> 4 Avoid contact with potentially contaminated substances Do not walk <br /> through puddles, pools, mud, etc Avoid, whenever possible, kneeling, <br /> leaning or sitting on contaminated surfaces Do not place monitoring <br /> equipment on potentially contaminated surfaces (i e , ground, etc ) <br /> 5 All field crew members should make use of their senses to alert them to <br /> potentially dangerous situations in which they should not become involved <br /> (i c , presence of strong, irritating or nauseating odors) <br /> 6 Only those vehicles and equipment required to complete work tasks <br /> should be permitted within the exclusion/work zone (drill rigs, excavators, <br /> and similar items) All non-essential vehicles should remain within the <br /> support zone <br /> 7 Containers, such as drums, will be moved only with the proper equipment <br /> and will be secured to prevent dropping or loss of control during transport <br /> 8 Field survey instruments, such as PIDs, should be covered with plastic or <br /> similar covering to minimize the potential for contamination <br /> 9 No matches or lighters will be permitted in the work area/exclusion zone <br /> or contamination reduction zone <br /> 10 Contaminated protective equipment, such as respirators, hoses, boots, and <br /> disposable protective clothing, will not be removed from the work <br /> area/exclusion zone or decontamination area until it has been cleaned, or <br /> properly packaged and labeled <br /> AMFOREST 21 7 30 <br />
