CLOSURE REQUEST REPORT Section No 6 0
Former American Forest Products Company 07/31/01
2801 West Lane Page 6-1
Stockton,California
6.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This Closure Request Report for the former American Forest Products Company was prepared as the final
step in requesting final closure for the site This report presents a compilation and evaluation of site data
according to the requirements outlined in Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary
Investigation and Evaluation of Underground Tank sates B Request for Closure Document, Appendix B
6.1 CONCLUSIONS
This Closure Request Report is a compilation of data and information being presented to the PHS-EHD
supporting closure of the UST system at the site as a Iow-risk groundwater site Site closure is
recommended, based on the reason including
• The sources of TPH impacts, the two USTs, have been removed
• Approximately 47% of the TPH-impacted soil has been removed and treated
• Residual TPH impacts are located primarily at depths between 20 and 30 feet bgs
Groundwater levels have been at 35 feet bgs or deeper, which would limit the potential for
leachate generation
• TPH detections above the taste and odor threshold of 100 ug[L appear to be limited in areal
extent Free diesel product has never been reported at the site A large, severe groundwater
impact is not present
+ TPH detections are primarily weathered diesel, indicating that natural degradation is
occurring
• Leachate development is limited by the asphalt cap installed at the site in 1990
• The potential for human exposure is limited by the depth of residual soil impacts, and the
distance to the nearest drinking water well
6.2 RECOMMENDATIONS
Site closure is recommended, based on evaluation of criteria specified by the RWQCB Based on this
information, the site appears qualified for"No Further Action" status
K 1840i91afp1afp_e1osure_rpt doe 07/31/01 3 24 PM
