i i
1
5.2 stockpile samples
TPH as gasoline, diesel and motor oil were detected in samples from
' the stockpile at concentrations of 2 . 2 mg/kg, 72 mg/kg and 1, 600
mg/kg. Cadmium, chromium, lead, zinc and nickel were detected at
concentrations of 0.86 mg/kg, 60 mg/kg, 50 mg/kg, 89 mg/kg and 43
1 mg/kg. No BTE&X, PCB's or Halogenated Volatile Organics were
detected in this sample.
1 6.0 CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS
The results of this investigation indicate that an unauthorized
release of hydrocarbons has occurred. Metals and petroleum
hydrocarbons in excess of allowable limits were detected in the
sample from beneath the waste oil tank, as well as in the soil
1 removed from the excavation. Following state guidelines, the
PHS/EHD will probably require assessment of the lateral and
vertical extent of contamination.
1 GeoAudit recommends that a Site Contamination Work Plan to excavate
and remove the contaminated soil be submitted to the PHS/EHD.
Because overexcavation will also involve remediation of the
contamination, the PHS/EHD regulations also require that an
Executive Summary of the remedial plan be prepared and submitted
for public comment prior to proceeding.
7. 0 LIMITATIONS
' Our professional services were performed using that degree of care
and skill ordinarily exercised by environmental consultants
practicing in this or similar localities. The findings were mainly
1 based upon analytical results provided by an independent
laboratory. Evaluations of the geologic conditions at the site have
been made from a limited number of available data points (i.e. soil
1 samples) , and subsurface conditions may vary away from these data
points. No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the
professional recommendations contained in this report.
1
1
3
i
