No visible staining on the floor or
' walls of the two empty trailers was noted during the inspection The
third trailer, trailer number 2, contained five 5-gallon containers of
Ordram 8-E, eight 5-gallon containers of Silvisar 550, and three
corroded 5-gallon containers of Alfa-Tax. The Alfa-Tox containers
appeared to have leaked onto the floor of the trailer.
Preliminary Investigation Conclusions
The Preliminary Site Investigation Report concluded that 1) further
investigation should be performed in areas exceeding the Total Threshold
Limit Concentration (TTLC) (set forth in Title 22 of the California Code
of Regulations) for organochlorine pesticides and 2) a clean-up level
should be determined for pesticides in soil .
To address the presence of TPH and BXT&E in soil and groundwater associ-
ated with the underground tank, tank closure was recommended. Closure
would involve removal of the tank, sampling of the excavation, and
monitoring groundwater downgradient of the tank.
Disposal of the pesticide storage trailers and their contents was also
' recommended in the report. A pesticide distributor willing to accept
the Ordram 8-E was identified Pesticide distributors walling to accept
the other pesticides were not identified.
At the request of Cal -Farm Supply, Kennedy/Jenks/Chalton prepared a work
plan for remediation of soil , disposal of the remaining pesticides and
storage trailers, and an additional groundwater investigation
' SITE REMEDIATION WORK PLAN
i On the basis of results from the preliminary site investigation,
Kennedy/Jenks/ Chilton developed a work plan for closure of the Cal -Farm
facility This work plan was reviewed and approved by the Central
Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board and the San Joaquin Local
Health District The work plan, entitled Site Remediation Work Plan,
Cal -Farm Supply Stockton„Facility, dated 13 October 1989, identified
work tasks for completing facility investigations and site remediation
Identified work tasks included:
• Additional Surface and Shallow Subsurface Soil Sampling to
Define the Extent of Pesticides an Soil
' 0 Development of Plans and Specifications and Contractor Negoti-
ations
' 0 Disposal of Soils Containing DDT at a Class I Landfall
• Tank Removal Surveillance
• Disposal of Storage Trailers and Contents
' WPI13 1 3 882526.01
