I
I
I
samples will be labeled with a unique sample number, date; time of collection, initials of
collector, Terranext project number and any other pertinentl:Jnfonhation, Each soil sample
will then be placed in an insulated chest containing ice and delivered (along with chain-of-
custody documentation) to Quanterra Environmental Services in West Sacramento,
f California, for analysis on a standard three week turnaround basis. It is anticipated that a
I
maximum of two soil samples will be analyzed from each of the soil borings. The selection
of samples for analysis will be based on field observations.
The remaining soil borings will be drilled using a truck-mounted Grill rig equipped with fl-
inch outside diameter hollow-stem augers. The soil borings,l will be drilled to the top of the
;
water-bearing zone, which is anticipated to be approximately 20 feet bgs. To assess Site
,{
conditions, continuous soil cores will be collected from soil'borehbles. Soil samples for
laboratory analysis will be collected from each of the borings at approximate 5-foot intervals,
beginning at the surface (beneath asphalt/concrete) and continuing'to the top of the water- +
bearing zone. Soil samples selected for potential laboratory1analysis will be immediately
withdrawn from the sampler and placed in 8-ounce glass jars and sealed with TeflonO-lined
plastic lids. This will be done in the same manner as the ones collected with the push core
system.
I
The cores and soil cuttings from all boreholes will be examined by an on-site geologist or
engineer and logged in accordance with the procedures of tlie American Society for Testing
Materials D 2488. A portion of the sample from each 5-foot interval will also be screened in
k
the field using a PID. Approximately 50 grams of soil willlbe placed in a plastic bag and
allowed to sit, preferably in the sun, for at least 15 minutes; The plastic bag will then be
opened just enough to place the probe of the PID into the headspac a and a measurement
made. PID readings will be recorded on the boring logs.
 I
E I I
808-001.wkp103-14-97lulkeydatalworkplan 9 j w
i
I
 d
