GEf:
• GENESIS ENGINEERING&REDEVELOPMENT
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This Sampling and Analysis Plan ("SAP") covers the work associated with the Work Plan to
Establish Background Soil Concentrations("Work Plan")for the William DePaoli Property
located in Holt, California("Site"). Genesis Engineering&Redevelopment, Inc. ("GE&R")
will implement this SAP in conjunction with the Work Plan and supporting documents;
including the Quality Assurance Project Plan (Appendix B of the Work Plan)and the Health
and Safety Plan (Appendix C of the Work Plan). Data Quality Objectives for this Project are
provided in the Quality Assurance Project Plan ("QAPP"). This SAP contains a discussion
of the field and laboratory activities associated with the Work Plan.
2.0 FIELD PROGRAM
The general Tasks associated with implementation of the Work Plan include:
1. Collecting 13 shallow soil samples and analyzing the samples for the constituents
identified in Section 3.1; and
2. Performing statistical analysis (ProUCL 4.1, EPA 2010) on soil data to establish
• background concentrations for soil at the Site.
2.1 Site Reconnaissance,Preparation,and Restoration
Thirteen soil samples will be collected from the area marked on Figure A-1. A Site
reconnaissance will be conducted to locate and mark proposed sampling locations. Sample
locations were selected based on review of the topographic map for the Site vicinity,
historical images of the area from Google Earth, and the U.S. Soil Conservation Service Soil
Maps for the vicinity of the Site. The closest and most available land for background
sampling that has similar conditions to the Site prior to landfilling is the farm area
immediately east of the Site. Prior to landfilling, the Site was close to or below sea level, and
surrounded by levees. The soil in the vicinity of the Site consists primarily of clay loam.
GE&R's logging of native soils beneath the drill mud fill on Site suggests that the Site is
underlain by clay loam similar to that identified on the adjacent property proposed for
background sampling. As such, native soils on Site and on the adjacent property should
exhibit similar natural chemical properties. Sampling locations will be marked using wooden
survey stakes.
Upon completion of field sampling activities, disturbed areas will be restored, as closely as
practical,to conditions at the beginning of the field work.
• William DePaoli Property 1 of It
Sampling and Analysis Plan
February 2012
