V firâ–º <br /> CHAPTER 9-1125 <br /> WATER QUALITY REGULATIONS <br /> Sections: <br /> 9-1125.1 intent <br /> 9.1125.2 Basis for Chapter <br /> 9-1125.3 Water Regulations <br /> 9-1125.4 Compliance Required <br /> 9-1125.5 Duties of Director of Environmental Health <br /> 9-1125.6 Enforcement Procedures <br /> 9-1125.7 Environmental Health Division Fees and Fines <br /> Section 9-1125.1 Intent. The intent of this Chapter is to prohibit the discharge of wastes into the <br /> surface and ground waters of the County, consistent with water quality objectives, to reduce the <br /> cumulative effect or possible cumulative effect on properties and characteristics which result or may result <br /> from the discharge of wastes. The discharge of wastes shall not create a nuisance. <br /> Section 9-1125.2 Basis for Chanter. As provided for in the Porter Cologne Water Quality Control Act <br /> Division 7, Chapter 1, Section 13002 (a) and (b), the County hereby establishes regulations imposing <br /> conditions, restrictions, or limitations for the disposal of waste or any other activity which might degrade <br /> the quality of the waters of the state because: <br /> (a) Public Interest. It is in the best public interest of the citizens of the County of San <br /> Joaquin to provide and be provided with the best quality of water possible; <br /> (b) Environmental Quality. The quality of water affects the quality of the environment as well <br /> as its economic value; <br /> (c) Beneficial Uses. The surface waters and ground waters of the County provide beneficial <br /> uses which include, but are not necessarily limited to, domestic, municipal, agricultural <br /> and industrial supply;power generation; recreation; aesthetic enjoyment;navigation; and <br /> preservation and enhancement of fish, wildlife, and other aquatic resources or preserves; <br /> and <br /> (d) Welfare. It is the responsibility of San Joaquin County Public Health Services to preserve <br /> and protect water quality for the health and welfare of the citizens of the County of Sal-, <br /> Joaquin. <br /> July 1992 1125-1 <br />
