Hazardous and Universal Waste Accumulation Area was also discussed. Adam through
this training has gained a great deal of knowledge for how to handle and store Hazardous
and Universal Waste. The Stockton Container Facility will also be retrained on the
International Paper Training Program for handling Hazardous and Universal Waste as
well. Finally on training the Stockton Facility has taken interest in the training that the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department provides and will be looking into
sending representatives to attend some of the classes.
The corrective action for #809 is as follows. The Stockton Container Facility has
determined that because of their size that a Satellite Location is really not needed. As a
result the Satellite Location within the Maintenance Shop was removed and the
employees instructed to dispose of any Hazardous and Universal Waste in the proper
containers at the Hazardous and Universal Waste Accumulation Area. As stated before
on the importance of the Accumulation Start Date and when these waste must be
removed by a Certified Waste Hauler (180 days for Hazardous and 1 Year for Universal
Wastes). The facility fully understands when this must occur and will monitor the entire
process on an on-going basis to make sure the facility is in compliance.
Finally the Stockton Container Facility along with International Paper appreciates
the patience from San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department in giving us the
time and help with correcting the issues that presented itself during the inspection.
International Paper takes pride in being an Organization that takes care of the
Environment through its Environmental Sustainability Programs and Internal Training
Programs and Auditing. We hope that you accept these corrective actions as not only a
correction but also as a new learning for the facility.
Appreciate your time,
Ken Adler
Environmental Manager
International Paper
1111 North Anderson Road
Exeter, California
Phone: (503) 661-6161
Fax: (503) 667-9489
