Site Description: The portion of the site within the Buckeye Ranch property consists of two <br /> loci of midden soil linked by a sparse scatter of shell (probably due to leveling activities in <br /> the 1960s). The western locus may have been initially recorded by Schenck & Dawson <br /> (1929b) as ;this site was originally described as a habitation site on a natural ridge <br /> on the east bank of the Mokelumne, measuring 50 feet in diameter). The eastern locus is <br /> the periphery of a large midden which extends into and probably <br /> represents - recorded by Schenck & Dawson (1929c). The location of <br /> (Schenck & Dawson (1929d) is probably <br /> Both were originally described as burial and occupation sites on natural <br /> ridges on The majority of <br /> Thus this portion of the newly <br /> subsumed "River Site" was not examined.
