vs . storage curve for South Lake after excavation is presented in <br /> Figure 7 . <br /> Water Use and Losses <br /> The Tracy Lake Water Balance is shown in Figure 8 . <br /> As the water balance indicates it will require about 1 , 500 acre feet <br /> of water per year from the various sources mentioned above to replace <br /> the water used and lost from the lakes . The various uses include <br /> golf course and domestic irrigation, irrigated pasture , and forest <br /> restoration. The losses are primarily due to evaporation and <br /> seepage . <br /> Approximately 80 acres of land will be irrigated for the golf course . <br /> Domestic landscaping will amount to about 20 acres and the irrigated <br /> pasture is expected to amount to about 20 acres . The marsh will <br /> occupy about 35 acres and the forest restoration project will cover <br /> approximately 20 acres and will require irrigation only until the <br /> trees become established. Water will be taken from the lakes at <br /> various locations as required to meet these requirements . The lakes <br /> will also serve as the primary fire water supply, with every <br /> residence and building being equipped with an outside fire department <br /> connection standpipe leading directly to the lake. <br /> Water Quality <br /> One of the objectives of the Water Management Plan will be to <br /> maintain, as much as possible , a high quality, semi-natural aquatic <br /> and wetlands environment . Water quality maintenance approaches are <br /> expected to include the following: <br /> Input and take out of water from widely separated points to <br /> provide circulation. <br /> Aeration of pumped river or ground water prior to input and <br /> direct circulation and aeration of lake water if it becomes <br /> necessary, especially during the warm summer months . <br /> Mechanical harvesting and removal of excessive vegetative growth <br /> such as Water Hyacinths . <br /> Minimizing the use of fertilizers on the golf course and <br /> landscaped areas that drain into the lakes . <br /> Drawing of irrigation water from the bottom of the lakes where <br /> nutrients are most concentrated. <br /> Flood Control <br /> The Tracy Lake area lies within the FEMA designated 100 Year Flood <br /> Plane of the Mokelumne River. An additional potential source of <br /> flooding is Jahant Slough. With the existing dams on the Mokelumne <br /> River and with the lakes expected to have some amount of water in <br /> 5 <br />
