them all year the likelihood of flooding from Jahant Slough is
probably greater than from the Mokelumne. Primary flood protection
from both sources would be provided by elevating susceptible
improvements above the 100 year flood stage (+29 feet, U. S .G. S .
Datum) with fill material excavated from the lake beds . These
improvements include home sites and buildings , pump stations, and
golf course greens .
A control structure incorporating an overflow spillway and drainpipe
would be located at Point "A" . This would allow excess water to be
discharged from South Lake to the drainage channel leading to the
river. The spillway elevation would be at approximately +25 feet.
This structure would also be designed to prevent unwanted river water
from entering the lake.
The embankment across the western end of South Lake at Point "E"
would be designed to prevent undesired overflow from South Lake to
the western portion of the property under 50 year flood conditions .
The corresponding top elevation would be approximately +26 feet.
6
