ASSOCIATES <br /> Page 2 <br /> August 17, 1990 <br /> L & a No. 90-190 <br /> Residential housing is expected to be 1 and 2-story wood frame structures with slab-on- <br /> grade floors. Structural loads are anticipated to be typical of this type of construction. <br /> FINDINGS <br /> Site Description <br /> The project is located south of Forest Lake Road within San Joaquin County. The <br /> property is an irregularly shaped 870-acre parcel which encompasses two dry lake beds <br /> known as North and South Tracy Lake. The lakes represent the terminal drainage sinks <br /> for Jahant Slough and have been dry since 1987 due to the drought. <br /> Topography on the site varies from approximate elevations +35 feet (County datum) <br /> toward the east end of the project. Near the west end of the project at the bottom of <br /> the two lakes topography is near elevation +10.5 feet. The north northwesterly portion <br /> of the property is characterized by ridge lines that finger into the lake areas while on the <br /> southern half of the project, the topography is less dissected. <br /> Vegetation on the site consists of large valley oaks, live oaks, various soft wood trees <br /> such as cottonwoods and scattered digger pines. Ground cover consists of volunteer <br /> grasses and weeds which are particularly dense within the lake beds. <br /> Soils <br /> The surface soils typically observed within the borings along the ridge lines consist of <br /> brown fine sandy silts (Unified Soil Classification: ML) which extend to depths on the <br /> order of 1 to 2 feet below existing site grade and are underlain by a thin layer of brown <br /> silty clays (CL). Directly below these soils are generally cemented "hardpan" soils <br /> consisting of light brown fine sandy silts (ML) and cemented brown silty fine to medium <br /> sands (SM) which extend to depths on the order of 15 feet below existing grades. <br /> i Boring No. T10 drilled along the north bank of the Mokelumne River at the proposed <br /> bridge crossing penetrated soils that consisted of loose to medium dense brown silty fine <br /> sands (SM), loose to medium dense brown fine sandy sflts (ML), and loose to medium <br /> dense light gray fine to medium sands (SP) that extend to depths on the order of 38 feet <br /> below existing site grades. These soils were underlain by stiff to very stiff dark gray sflty <br /> ' clays (CL) and dark gray clayey silts (ML) that extends to a depth of at least 59 feet <br /> below existing grades.
