FEB 6 1991
N t-
Li
M
W NG
Kerry Sullivan C Q
Community Development
County of San Joaquin
1810 Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Staff for The Reclamation Board has reviewed the Notice of Preparation
of a draft Environmental Impact Report for the Buckeye Ranch Project
(SCH 91012103) and has the following comments.
The proposed project, which would consist of the construction of twenty-
one homes and an eighteen-hole golf course, is located adjacent to the
Mokelumne River. The Mokelumne River Designated Floodway is up to 1,500 feet
wide in this area, mostly on the project side of the river.
The Board's regulations prohibit the construction of houses intended for
permanent human occupation in the designated floodway. In addition, a permit
is required for all construction work, including grading, filling, and vegeta-
tion removal or .planting of new vegetation in the designated floodway. New
roads and bridges across the Mokelumne River, for example, would therefore
require encroachment permits from the Board.
Designated floodway maps are available for inspection at the Board's
office at the above address.
For more information concerning the environmental review, please contact
Annalena Bronson at (916) 322-3740. For more information regarding the permit
process, the project proponent should contact Donald Jackson, Encroachment
Control Sec*),.ion, at the above address or call (916) 324-3889.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
Sincerely,
Original signed by
$aymon+d E.
