P
JAN 2 7 i1Z 1E. F. muss
1993 21!21 Diablo Drive
COMMUNITY DEVEL0emtnif DEPT, Lodi, California 952L2
PLANNING DIVISION January 26, 1993
Community Development Denartment
San Joacuin County
1.810 Fast Hazleton :venue
Stockton, California 95205
Attention: Iris. Kerry Sullivan, Senior :Tanner
SUBJECT: Buckeye Ranch/Brovelli Woods
Dear I°Is. Sullivan:
For quite some time I have been greatly interested in the status of the
870 acre parcel of land known as Brovelli floods/Tracy Lakes area which is also
known as Buckeye R-Lnch. 0n January 10, 1993 I was privileged to have had the
opportunity to walk through that parcel with a group of some 12 friends guided
by a lir. Dave Fisher who is with the development firm of Robertson Homes, Stock-
ton, California.
That tour of the property far exceeded the mental picture that I had perceived
of it -- mere words are grossl;.- inadequate to describe the peace, quiet, pristine
and tranquil beauty of that parcel. Visible during our tour were a great flock
of redwing blackbirds, numerous sandhill cranes, ducks, geese, many species of
wild birds, three d ger, grazing cattle, etc.., etc., etc. Fisher voluntarily
stated there were many other species of wildlike that inhabit that area but which
were not observed during our tour.
-:any hu.dred -:ears ago that whole area was inhabited b„- tribes of ?nc=ens
D146
and many of them have been buried in that area. Now a orivate commercial devel-
, over (Robertson Fomes) is nlanning to subdivide that og.rcel into 26 home sites
ran;-ing in size from 0.9 acre to 2.9 acres. Zlready and according to 11r. Fisher
some b0C valley oak trees have been felled in anti cioation of installing a private
golf course fort he benefit of those 26 residents and their guests. Also, an
equestrian trail is nla.ned for the orivate use of those 26 home sites. s.
Fisher stated that only those 26 parcels will be allowed. However, history and
experience have shown that other and larcer subdivisions may come along in a
r short period of time.
It would ire a great injustice to the citizens of this County and California
if this grandiose oro.=lect is nex^:itted to proceed. The initial clan of 26 oar-
cels by itself is grown: inducing. If oermitted, 'that entire parce1• (870 acres)
would be forever lost to future generations. The archaeological and biological
aspects of the area by themselves should be preserved not only for this generation
but for all generations to come.
S-ncere__ ,
.a_ter = . --n1ss
None: :69-21F5
VI-119
