The VOA vials
were filled, capped, and inverted to check for possible air bubbles. if air bubbles were present,
the vials were refilled and checked again. This procedure was repeated until an acceptable
sample was obtained. The containers were filled until there was no head space remaining in the
t bottle. One field method blank sample was collected using distilled water pourer into the
decontaminated sample bailer after the final rinse and poured directly into the sample collection
..« containers. Also,a trip blank sample was carried in the sample container from origin to final
j 3
destination. The field method and trip blank samples are part of USTEC's QA/QC plan for
a, proper sampling and equipment decontamination.
After filling each designated container, all groundwater sample and field method blank vials and
jars were then labeled, wrapped in a protective wrap, double bagged in plastic bags and placed
on ice and maintained at about 4°Centigrade to minimize potential volatilization of the organic
;,. compounds. Chain-of-custody documentation was maintained by USTEC personnel and
r accompanied the groundwater samples until delivery to Sequoia Analytical in Redwood City,
F
California. Sequoia Analytical is a California State certified laboratory. The chain-of-custody
rT documentation is presented in Appendix A.
is
The Teflon® bailer was decontaminated prior to entering the site and was decontaminated
between samples to prevent potential cross-contamination of the samples. Specific
decontamination procedures for all sampling equipment included washing in a soap/tap waver
solution followed by a tap water rinse and two distilled water rinses.
4.0 ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY PROCEDURES AND RESULTS
This section discusses the analytical chemistry procedures and resulting data.
R
