The electronic interface
probe was decontaminated between measurements to reduce the possibility of potential cross-
contamination. The decontamination process consisted of an initial wash in soap/tap water
ii
solution followed by a tap water rinse and two distilled water rinses.
2.2 GROUNDWATER ELEVATION RESULTS
Groundwater elevations were calculated using a well head survey conducted by Mid-Valley
t Engineering,Modesto,California. The survey consisted of level circuits carried from a City of
1
Stockton Datum Benchmark The accuracy of this survey was within 0.01 feet.
The results of the groundwater elevation measurements collected by USTEC personnel are
presented in Table 1. A summary of historical groundwater elevations are presented in Table
2. A groundwater contour map is presented in Figure 3. The groundwater flow is generally
+> towards the northeast, which is consistent with the initial monitoring of the wells after
installation.
3.0 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING PROCEDURES
Each of the six existing groundwater monitoring wells were sampled by USTEC personnel on
December 6,1990. In order to minimize the risk of cross-contamination during the sampling
program, work proceeded in order from the wells with the least contamination, as noted in
previous monitoring programs,to wells with increasingly contaminated water. Each monitoring
well was purged of at least five well volumes of water by using a decontaminated Grundfoslb
purge pump. All water from the purging process was contained in Department of
Transportation(DOT)approved 17H,55-gallon steel drums. These drums were stored on site
. pending completion of the analytical test results.
R
The groundwater samples were collected using a decontaminated 2-inch nominal diameter
Teflon@ bailer. Groundwater was discharged directly from the bailer into two 40-milliliter VOA
2
1 F
Im
