1
Working To Restore Nature
Addendum One to Remedial Action Plan March 1, 1993
Coca-Cola Former Distnbution Facility, Stockton, California 54006 01
SITE DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND
The subject site is located in northern California in San Joaquin County at 1100 North
Wilson Way in Stockton, California. The City of Stockton is about a 1-1/2 hour drive due
east of the City of San Francisco. The site is situated at the intersection of Roosevelt Street
and North Wilson Way as shown on Plate 1, Site Vicinity Map. The site is bounded by a
motel and vacant lot to the north, North Wilson Way to the west, Roosevelt Street to the
south, and School Avenue to the east as shown on Plate 2, Generalized Site Plan.
' The site property is about 1-1/2 acres in area, and was formerly used by Coca-Cola as a
warehouse and distribution facility for bottled and canned soft dunks. The site is currently
closed, fenced, and locked to preclude public access. Coca-Cola has signed a lease-to-own
' contract with a local business, American Performance, an automobile pant and body
business. The site is currently not in use, although American Performance is expected to
begin commercial operations there m 1993. The site is relatively flat, and predominantly
concrete and asphalt covered. Buildings include a two-story brick office building, covered
metal service bays and storage areas, a carbonation production unit for beverages which will
r be dismantled and disposed in 1993, and a parking lot in the northeast comer. The
locations of these buildings and other pertinent site features are shown in Plate 2.
' Coca-Cola closed operations at the Distribution Facility in April 1990. Two steel
underground storage tanks (USTs), fuel dispensers, product piping and vent piping were
excavated and disposed as part of the abandonment process. One 10,000 gallon diesel UST,
' installed in 1978, and one 1,000 gallon gasoline UST, installed in 1937, were excavated
(USTEC, September 20, 1991). The locations of the former USTs are shown in Plate 2.
Several environmental investigations have been conducted since tank removal.
i , PREVIOUS WORK
The reports of previous environmental work at the subject site are referenced at the end of
this report, and summarized in Appendix A. Plate 3 shows the locations of the existing
groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-6), the existing vapor extraction wells
(VEW-1 through VEW-8), and the locations of previous soil borings (B-1 through B-28).
Tables A-1 and A-2 in Appendix A present the previous cumulative results of soil sampling
in borings. And Tables A-3 and A-4 present the previous cumulative results of analyses of
groundwater samples, and depth to water measurements, respectively.
The most recent environmental work conducted at the site include Fourth Quarter 1992
groundwater monitoring, and a soil vapor extraction test.
