FIX=
The reasons for needing oil absorbents are primarily safety and cleanliness. The
first is obvious. If there is loose oil on the shop floor, employees and customers
are in danger of being injured. It only takes one slip -and -fall case to pay for
several truckloads of oil absorbent.
If there is a spill in the shop the proper procedures are:
-Cover the spill with floor absorbent.
Used Absorbents
Used floor absorbent should be stored in the Used Floor Absorbent Barrel
Labeled with a Hazardous Waste Label.
*If the Used Floor Absorbent barrel is empty please write the date on
the accumulation line of the label or notify the office so that it can be properly
done.
Used floor absorbent cannot be left overnight unless you feel that the absorbent
is still doing its job. In that case, the absorbent is to be swept up before the end
of the following work day.
+: •; ;I'llIN
r
1
Here at LFW we use cutting oil for our machines and gear oil for our Gearboxes.
There are times that we receive a gearbox that has been previously filled with
oil. If we do receive a gearbox that has been previously filled with oil the proper
procedures is to:
-Drain the used oil into a bucket/ container and then dump into the
Used Oil barrel labeled with a Hazardous Waste Label.
*If the Used Oil barrel is empty please write the date on the
accumulation line of the label or notify the office so that it can be properly done.
If you are using buckets to collect used oil, that is non reusable, from the
machines or Gearboxes they MUST be dumped every day before the end of your
shift. Without question!
(USED OIL BARRELS MUST BE SEALED AT ALL TIMES)
