• If the nighttime tempera is controlled locally, increase the nigWWtting on all thermostats <br />to 55 degrees. (If your t erature is controlled by Accutemp yoLWghftime thermostat set <br />back will automatically be changed to 55 degrees until the cold snap ends) <br />• Seek assistance from the QMTs to remove ceiling the in any/all areas adjacent to cold exterior <br />walls and in vestibules to mitigate the potential for water frozen pipes if it can safety be <br />completed. If you have any concerns please contact Facilities for assistance. <br />• Prop open vestibule doors to prevent sprinkler pipe freezing. <br />• Prop interior entry way doors open at night. <br />If restrooms are located near exterior walls, prop open restroom doors any time the <br />temperature will be lowered during off hours. In the past, some locations installed heaters in <br />restrooms last year to prevent freezing. Contact QMTs and LP to assist in decision making <br />that can prevent freezing pipes. <br />• Prop open the doors to the perimeter stockrooms if the walls are located along exterior walls <br />and if they are cold prop the doors open at night. <br />Check unused stockrooms and/or different levels of the location that may normally be closed <br />off to make sure that the area receives heat to prevent the risk of freezing pipes. <br />• Pay special attention to shipping and receiving areas where large doors are frequently <br />opened and may affect inside temperatures. <br />• Inspect the buildings exterior <br />• Look for openings that lead into the buildings interior. These openings, large and <br />small, are locations where cold air can enter the building. <br />• Check doors for proper weather stripping/proofing. If inadequate, seek repair. <br />• Check if outside dampers need additional heating to prevent them from becoming <br />frozen. <br />After an Event <br />Initial Return to an impacted Facility <br />Always follow the direction of local emergency authorities. <br />Never place yourself or others at risk. Protect people first, then property. If the facility appears to <br />have sustained structural damage due to flooding do not re-enter the building. <br />• QMT, Facilities or Maintenance must be present during the initial return to the building. <br />• Return to store only after authorized by local officials and the integrity of the structure has not <br />been compromised. <br />If the building is damaged <br />Never place yourself or others at risk. Protect people first, then property. If the building appears to <br />have sustained structural damage or flooding: <br />• Do not enter the building. <br />• Keep associates and customers out. <br />• Contact Facilities or the Field Construction Manager for assistance. The Field Construction <br />Manager will coordinate emergency response and determine when and how the building may <br />be entered. <br />
