This assessment was necessary to determine if this storage system conforms to the
requirements of California Title 22 regarding hazardous waste storage.
This facility manufactures packages and distributes detergents and cleaning supplies. During the
processing it is necessary to rinse the mixing tanks. This rinse water will have many different
chemicals and constituents, and is put into a buffer tank for storage until transported to a disposal
site. This assessment is for the buffer tank.
Buffer Tank Assessment:
1. Tank configuration:
This is an above ground plastic tank, located inside of a building, with an approximate capacity
of 1000 gallons. It is cylindrical in shape with four sets of saddle type legs which are formed in
the plastic. It is securely fastened to the concrete floor with four steel pipe hoops and epoxies
anchor bolts. The tank setting allows visual observation on all sides.
2. Design Standards:
a) High density cross-linked polyethylene tank.
b) Wall thickness 1/4"minimum.
c) No liner
3. Documented Age of Tank:
Tank is approximately 10 years old. Estimated remaining service life to be 20 years.
Recommended re-inspection in five years.
4. Piping and Ancillary Equipment:
a) Piping material is schedule 40 P.V.C.
b) Pipe diameter is 1%2"
c) Pump is a"Placer"model # GNOK1-112.2AOLC.5C. Capacity of 280 GPM.
d) Pump location is 5'-0" left of tank, mounted on a stand.
