Testing Procedure
If you get the temperature in OF, because of non-proportional correspondence there is not a simple
way to calculate it but using the following procedure:
- Bring all the initial and final temperature values from OF to°C with the following formula:
(1) T(°C)=[T(OF)-32]x 5/9
-Then subtract the final temp. from the initial
(2) AT=T(final)—T(initial)
If you get a negative value, it means that you had a temperature drop.
-Multiply the result 0.35%by each°C variation
(3) Pressure Variation(%)=0.35 x AT
-Add the pressure variation to the initial pressure value
(4) PRESSURE VARIATION =pressure variation (%) +initial pressure
EX....AMPLE
Initial Temperature=74 OF
Final Temperature=97 OF
Initial Pressure=3 psi
(1) Initial Temperature=(74—32)x 5/9=23.33°C
Final temperature=(97—32)x 5/9=36.11 °C
(2) AT= 36.11—23.33= 12.78°C => 23 OF
(3) Pressure Variation(%) = 12.78 x 0.35=4.473%
(4) PRESSURE VARIATION=3 x 4.473/100= +0.40 psi
The pressure you should read over the gauge is 3.4 psi
