• 0 REGULATIONS, IMPLEMENTATIONS AND WHAT IT ALL MEANS Since passage of the Clean Air Act of 1963, dramatic changes have been made in how we dis- pense fuel and the types of fuel we dispense. The lead is out, catalytic converters are in and, thanks to secondary contain- ment, we are controlling fuel leaks. *Compliance to the Environ- mental Protection Agency (EPA) mandates on under- ground storage tanks (UST) challenges the major oil com- pany and the municipal or private fuel dispenser operator. Stringent requirements and approaching deadlines must be met. *Areas of concern are leak detection, corrosion protection and spill/overfill prevention.
