0 <br />1:!FIBERGLASS <br />Primary Piping <br />SCOPE <br />GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS <br />UL Listed RED THREAD° IIA Piping <br />PIPE — Pipe shall be manufactured by Smith Fiberglass <br />Products Company by a filament winding process using <br />a thermosetting epoxy resin to impregnate strands of <br />continuous glass filaments which are wound around a <br />mandrel at a prescribed helix angle and under controlled <br />tension. All pipe will be supplied with matching tapered <br />T.A.B TM (Threaded and Bonded) coupling and spigot <br />ends or T.A.B. spigot x spigot ends. <br />CONSTRUCTION <br />2"-4" PIPE — RED THREAD IIA pipe shall have continuous <br />glass fibers filament wound at a 35Y4° helix angle in a <br />matrix of epoxy resin. Pipe shall be in compliance with <br />ASTM D2310 and classified by its designation code. Pipe <br />shall meet all dimensional and performance <br />requirements, mechanical properties, and shall be <br />classified with the following designation codes: <br />Size Designation Code at 73.4° F <br />2"-3" RTRP-11 AE <br />4" RTRP-11 AF <br />ITEMS <br />2"-4" PIPE — Glass fiber reinforced filament wound pipe <br />with matching tapered T.A.B. (Threaded and Bonded) <br />coupling and spigot ends. Pipe to be factory prooftested <br />at the following pressures: <br />2" - 375 psig <br />3" - 300 psig <br />4" - 265 psig <br />2"-4" FITTINGS — Compression molded fittings shall be <br />manufactured using an epoxy molding compound. The <br />molding compound shall be reinforced with a minimum <br />of 45% chopped glass fiber. In-line fittings are filament <br />wound. <br />ADHESIVES — Adhesive and curing agents shall be either <br />UL Listed DS -8000 or DS -7000 series adhesive. <br />Consult Smith Fiberglass Products' installation manual <br />No. B2160 for recommended heat curing techniques. <br />JOINING TECHNIQUES <br />2"-4" PIPE and FITTINGS — Pipe and fittings shall be <br />joined with DS -8000 or DS -7000 series adhesive using <br />matching tapered bell/coupling and spigot. Material to <br />be installed in accordance with Smith Fiberglass <br />Products' installation manual No. B2160. <br />TESTING <br />•2"-4" PRIMARY PIPE SYSTEMS — Primary pipe systems <br />should be tested prior to use to assure soundness of all <br />joints and connections. Consult Smith Fiberglass <br />Products' installation manual No. B2160. <br />5 <br />Secondary Containment Piping <br />SCOPE <br />PIPE — Pipe shall be manufactured by Smith Fiberglass <br />Products Company by a filament winding process using <br />a thermosetting epoxy resin to impregnate strands of <br />continuous glass filaments which are wound around a <br />mandrel at a prescribed helix angle and under controlled <br />tension. <br />CONSTRUCTION <br />3"-4" PIPE — RED THREAD IIA pipe shall have continuous <br />glass fibers filament wound at a 35W helix angle in a <br />matrix of epoxy resin. Pipe shall be in compliance with <br />ASTM D2310 and classified by its designation code. Pipe <br />shall meet all performance requirements and mechanical <br />properties, and shall be classified with the following <br />designation codes: <br />Size Designation Code at 73.4° F <br />3" RTRP-11 AE <br />4" RTRP-11 AF <br />ITEMS <br />3"-4" PIPE — Glass fiber reinforced filament wound pipe <br />with Plain end by Plain end. Pipe to be factory <br />prooftested at the following pressures: <br />3" - 300 psig (minimum) <br />4" - 265 psig (minimum) <br />3"-4" FITTINGS — Compression molded two-piece fittings <br />shall be manufactured using a vinyl ester molding <br />compound. The molding compound shall be reinforced <br />with a minimum of 60% chopped glass fiber. <br />ADHESIVES — Adhesive and curing agents shall be either <br />UL Listed DS -8000 or DS -7000 series adhesive. Consult <br />Smith Fiberglass Products' installation manual No. B2160 <br />for recommended heat curing techniques. <br />JOINING TECHNIQUES <br />T'4' PIPE and FITTINGS — Pipe shall be joined with <br />either DS -8000 or DS -7000 series adhesive. Fittings shall <br />be joined with either DS -7000 or DS -8000 series <br />adhesives and filler. Material to be installed in <br />accordance with Smith Fiberglass Products' installation <br />manual No. B2160. <br />TESTING <br />3"-4" SECONDARY CONTAINMENT PIPE SYSTEMS — <br />Secondary containment pipe systems should be tested <br />prior to use to assure soundness of all joints and <br />connections. Consult Smith Fiberglass Products' <br />installation manual No. B2160. <br />
