c®R®mwwr®ww _
RAOUILN
Results of Evaluation of Liquid -Phase Probe Model FD22191MA
The EPA liquid test methods were modified to allow the 2 1/2 -inch liquid
probe to function properly. The revisions consisted of adding hydrocarbon test liquid to
the test chamber after the blank test without removing the probe from the water. While
the EPA
test method is sufficient for many detectors, with this detector -there had been
problems ass• d with removingprobe om the water between the blank ar
the *✓. rs! ! procedure more closely!•conditions the
detector would experience in the field. Despite the revisions, during testing the 2 1/2 -
inch float often had to be adjusted after addition of hydrocarbon test product to obtain a
correct response.
For all test liquids, the detector's accuracy at 0.32 cm and 0.64 cm
thicknesses was 100%. Average detection times at these thicknesses ranged from one to
four seconds. Average fail times were three and four seconds. The detector was not
able to detect 0.04 cm layers of hydrocarbon. Its accuracy at this thickness was,
therefore, 0%. Accuracy and response time test results for this detector are presented in
