All Be staff working on site have completed training in hazard recognition and basic health and safety issues as required by the occupational safety and health regulation contained in 29 CFR 1910.120 (e). In addition, each employee will be familiar with the requirements of the SSHP, and will participate in site activity and safety briefings, there will be an initial site safety meeting and preconstruction meeting held prior to the start of field work to thoroughly brief all project staff on the work plan, health and safety procedures, and conduct a site walk through. The contractor that installs the soil vapor probes, vapor monitoring wells, and piping will not be required to have 40 -hour health and safety training. Their involvement in this phase of work should not expose them to any hazardous substance that could cause a health effect, or require the need for this level of training. F941W# , • • Based on the hazard analysis for this project, the following personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required and used. Changes to these specified items PPE will not be made without the approval of the site safety officer. Tank Removal/Excavation The PPE for this project will be Level D. Steel -toed boots, hard hats,a nd safety glasses will be worn in the work area. Cotton overalls may be worn for dirt protection. Ear plugs will be available. These items do not provide any chemical protection. Nitrile gloves with latex or vinyl liners should be worn when sampling or handling contaminated soils to prevent skin contact with contaminants. If conditions are encountered where any of the constituents listed in Table C-1 are detected at or above the TLV for that chemical, work will cease. Level C PPE will be donned prior to continuing work at the site under such conditions. Level C will include Saranex coveralls, nitrile gloves with liners, and fullface air - purifying respirators with organic vapor cartridges in addition to the level D items specified above. Soil Vapor Extraction System The PPE required will be level D, which consists for work clothes and safety boots. The potential hazards identified in the hazard analysis portion of this plan determined the need for initial and/or ongoing monitoring for assessment of exposure to the hazards as follows.
