t
"L
2.04 UNDERGROUND FUEL ST GE TANK AND PIPING LEAK DET ION SYSTEM
A. Purpose: To indicate presence of water or hydrocarbons near leak probe.
B. Components:
1. A central leak detection alarm panel with an audible alarm and indicator lights.
2. Digital leak sensing probes with cables of sufficient length.
C. Probe Monitoring Capability: 15 probes with one control unit.
D. Product Listings: FM and UL listed for use with hydrocarbon fuels. System components, except alarm
panel, shall be instrinsically safe for Class 1, Division 1, Group D hazardous atmospheres.
E. Tanks Monitored: Each fuel tank. Provide method of identifying specific tank responsible for an alarm.
F. Sensor Locations:
1. Tank interstitial space of each underground fuel storage tank.
2. Spill/Overfill Containment sump and dispenser containment sump box.
3. Install additional sensors as required by LIA.
4. Sensor Sensitivity:
a. Detection of an 1/8 inch layer minimum oil -in -water of hydrocarbons floating on water, factory pre-
set to 1/4 inch.
b. 2 inch detection depth of hydrocarbons on a dry surface.
G. Control Panel:
1. NEMA 4 enclosure for permanent installation indoors or outdoors.
2. Provide keyboard for entry of alarm conditions and relay closures.
3. Probe conditions indicated on liquid crystal display shall be water, hydrocarbons, or dry by probe
number.
4. Display "alert" conditions to external alarms, and "leak" conditions for primary alarms.
5: A power "on" light shall be provided to indicate panel "on99 condition.
6. Provide test buttons on panel for testing for water, hydrocarbons or dry condition.
H. External Interfaces:
1. Capable of operating up to four relays.
2. Program -selectable for normally open or normally closed 3 amp 120/240 volts AC maximum loads.
3. Integral RS -232C data output port.
I. Circuitry: Microprocessor based system, with permanent non-volatile memory backup, and internal circuit
breaker.
J. Monitoring Locations:
1. Monitor tank at interstitial space and secondary fuel containment sump, and other locations required by
a- 4 regulations.
2. Note: Local Implementing Agency Regulations may be more stringent than drawings show. Comply
h. with Local Implementing Agency Regulations regardless of whether shown on drawings or not.
UNDERGROUND FUEL STORAGE TANK
070601:HTL:lc:cw 13215 -7 CH 107517 / 107518
