I
I.S
I. Tank Anchoring.
1. Hold -Down Cable:
a. Align anchor cable on designated tank ribs or anchor points recommended by tank manufacturer.
b. Use 2 layers of 90 pound roofer's felt or other material recommended by tank manufacturer
between hold-down cables and tank surface. In no case shall anchoring cable directly contact tank.
2. Tank Hold -Down Cable Anchors: Embed tank hold-down anchors in concrete. Install hold down cable
through anchor and install three cable clamps.
Maintain a minimum 12 inch bed between concrete slab and tank.
J. Tank Shell Deflection Measurements: Take and record tank shell diameter at a minimum of three bung
openings along the tank, one at each end and one in the center of the tank. Measurements shall be taken:
1. Prior to placing tank in excavation.
2. After tank has been backfilled to top of tank.
3. Submit the results of the tank shell deflection measurements to Project Engineer.
3.02 WRAPPING OF TANK RISERS
A. Corrosion Protection: Protect against corrosion by coating all parts with an epoxy -based primer. After
priming parts, double -wrap with 10 mil polyvinylchloride or polyethylene tape.
3.03 FUEL PIPING
A. Visual Inspection: Prior to placing piping in excavation, carefully inspect each section of pipe for damage.
Do not use any damaged piping.
B. Fuel Piping Test: Test all fuel piping after placing in excavation, and assembling, but before backfilling.
1. Test new piping at 50 psig with air. Soap entire length of the piping and fittings, and visually check for
leaks. As an alternate, piping may be tested at 110 percent of operating pressure, but not less than 50
psig.
2. Test piping which has contained flammable or combustible materials only by hydrostatic test of 50 psig.
3. All tests, regardless of method shall be 1 hour.
C. Test Results: Submit all test results to the State.
3.04 TANK AND FUEL PIPING PRECISION TEST
A. Independent Precision Tank Test after Tank is placed in Excavation and Backfilled:
1. Purpose: Identify specific data and information on precision tank testing results to be furnished to
Division of the State Architect.
2. Certification: Include following data in test documentation for each tank successfully tested:
a.
Tank owner.
'- b.
Owner's mailing address.
c.
Owner's representative (Facility Manager or responsible facility representative) and phone number.
d.
Name of facility.
e.
Facility address.
f.
Date of tank test.
g.
Result of tank test.
UNDERGROUND FUEL STORAGE TANK
070601:HTL:lc:cw
13215 - 21 CH 107517 / 107518
