RED THREAD IIA product piping, when contained by secondary pip- ing, results in a fuel system you can doubly rely ort. The containment system can be pressure tested and continuously monitored. Manufactured from tough epoxy resin and fiberglass reinforcements, RED THREAD IIA pipe resists corro- sion from petroleum fuels such as gasoline and alcohol blends — including 100 percent ethanol and methanol. DC�711;Tf�eTl�i ':TrT RED THREAD IIA pipe comes from the factory with T,A.B.T" (Threaded and Bonded) end connections. One end of the pipe is a tapered male spigot, and the other end has a female coupling (integral bell or bonded -on coupling). Each end is thrvaded with special profile double -lead threads for fast, easy assembly of pipe -to -pipe connec- tions. Specially -formulated epoxy adhesive is brushed on the pipe end; at the time: of installation. Special tapering tools from Smith Fiberglass Products can be used to apply the proper taper angle to the pipe ends. The mechanical locking action of matching bell and spigot taper angles produces a strong joint. Spigot ends can be joined to female pipe couplings or belled fitting ends with or without the T.A.B, connection. When connecting containment piper and fittings, plain ends of containment pipe are machined or thoroughly sanded to accept the two-piece containment fitting. QUALITY ASSURANCE As with all piping systems from Smith Fiberglass Products, high quality standards have been set for RED THREAD IIA pipe. Raw materials and manufacturing equipment are routinely checked and monitored for consistency and performance. At least 98 percent of all finished pipe is hydrostatically tested before shipment — far beyond the requirements of Underwriters Laboratories Inc. The quality assurance procedures for UL Listed REDTHREAD IIA pipe meet minimum hydrostatic test requirements of UL. The mill test pressures for pipe are as follows: 2" - 3 75 psig 3" - 265 psig 4" - 265 psig Molded fittings are 100 percent hydrostatically tested, and secon- dary' 'containment fittings are tested on a sampling plan approved by UL.
