Large fuel fires may use several hoses to contain the fire area (not <br /> sprayed directly into the flames), and to keep items around the fire cool and the fire <br /> from spreading. <br /> Evacuation and the emergency shut down of the facility is part of the normal <br /> employee training program. For afire, explosion, earthquake or airborne release, <br /> employees are to evacuate the building and site. Then the proper authorities are to <br /> be called and informed of the situation. Management personnel are to shut off the <br /> flow to fuel islands via the "emergency shutoff'switch, and if possible without <br /> endangering themselves or others, shut off the main electrical breaker. <br /> Cooking areas are to be cleaned, inspected and tested on a schedule (records are <br /> located in the General Managers office) Broken or otherwise unsafe equipment will <br /> not be used. Employees have been trained in the proper use, storage and handling of <br /> cooking grease. Cooking grease releases shall be mitigated in such a way as to <br /> ensure individual health and safety as a highest priority. Injured individuals which <br /> may have come into contact with a release should first be taken to a safe location and <br /> then administered first aid either by those qualified or specially trained and an <br /> ambulance called if there is any doubt as to the severity of the burn. The release <br /> should be stopped as soon as possible, if safe to do so, by turning off burners, <br /> shutting valves, righting overturned equipment, etc. Any spills should be contained in <br /> a localized area. This is done with absorbent pads, booms, or other materials located <br /> on site. As cooking grease is extremely hot, and may cause other material to burn, a <br /> fire extinguisher is to be used to contain any fires; WATER IS NOT TO BE USED <br /> ON GREASE FIRE. <br /> Sewage releases shall be stopped at their source ifpossible. This may involve <br /> shutting off sewage release valves on RV's,placing RV sewage tubes into sewage <br /> dump sinks, or turning off water supplied to toilets. Any sewage that may have been <br /> released should be contained in an area to prevent migration. This is done with <br /> absorbent pads, weirs, booms, or other materials located on site.
