3) Ensure the health and safety of all individuals in the vicinity of a release, making
sure not to jeopardize the health or life of individuals providing aid.
4) Contain any spill release in a localized area so as to prevent migration: ALL
EFFORTS ARE TO BE MADE TO CONTAIN AND ABSORB THE FUEL,
AND NOT TO ALLOW THE SPILL TO ENTER INTO THE DRAINAGE
TROUGH OR DROP INLETS. This is done with drain covers, absorbent pads,
& booms, or other approved materials kept on location. Contact the local Fire
Department if product has entered any drain. Contaminated materials are to be
placed in 55 gallon steel drums and labeled properly.
5) Identify and mitigate fire, explosion, and vapor hazards by turning off all
electrical equipment and moving all vehicles away from the spill area. Vehicles
should be rolled to minimize the chance of sparks igniting fumes.
6) Call the Flying J Help Desk number, 1-877-485-6640.
7) Dispose of clean-up materials and waste through a licensed contractor.
8) Flying J Environmental Support Group will report release to the appropriate
agencies.
The facility Maintenance Manager may assess the leakage damage to the propane
tank and associated piping. No tightening or loosening of fittings shall be done to the
piping without first closing the main valve. After the repair, the main valve is to be
opened slowly, with care taken to ensure that the system does not have a leak. A
propane contractor will be called to make further repairs. The tank should be fully
emptied and cleaned by the contractor before any welding or grinding is permitted.
AT NO TIME SHOULD A FLAME BE USED TO ASSESS A LEAK IN THE
PROPANE SYSTEM.
Cooking grease should be cleaned up in a timely manner in accordance with local
regulations. Possible methods may involve using absorbent material such as pads,
using hot water and soap to mop up a release and dump mop water down a sink
which leads to a grease trap, or use hot water and soap to wash grease down floor
inlet drain leading to grease trap.
