Broadbent & Associates, Inc. 10 Diesel Pipeline Closure Conation Report, Pilot -Flying J #617
Vacaville, California 15100 N. Thornton Rd., Lodi, CA
September 30, 2011
(BTEX) by EPA Method 8260B. Copies of the laboratory analytical reports are contained within
Appendix B.
Laboratory analytical concentration results for DRO and BTEX are summarized on
Table 1, attached. DRO and BTEX were not detected in the two samples at concentrations
exceeding the laboratory reporting limits. On August 19, 2011, BAI emailed a copy of the
laboratory analytical report to SJCEHD recommending that no further action was required and
the trench can be backfilled. As of this date SJCEHD has not responded to this request.
CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS
Broadbent & Associates, Inc. conducted diesel pipeline closure confirmation soil sampling
on August 16, 2011 at the Pilot -Flying J Travel Center #617 site located at 15100 N. Thornton
Rd., Lodi, San Joaquin County, California. Field activities were conducted in general accordance
with SJCEHD's Sampling Protocol for Routine Tank Removal guidelines and, where possible,
accommodating the field direction received from SJCEHD personnel. Exceptions to these
procedures are contained within the report text. This investigation revealed no evidence of
residual soil contamination by petroleum fuel hydrocarbons that would necessitate further
investigation or remediation. Based on the information obtained and presented in this report, no
further action is recommended at this time.
LIMITATIONS
The findings presented in this report and work plan are based upon: observations of field
BAI personnel the points investigated, and results of laboratory tests performed by Alpha
Analytical Laboratory, Inc. (Sparks, Nevada). Our services were performed in accordance with
the generally accepted standard of practice at the time this report was written. No other warranty,
expressed or implied is made. This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of Pilot Travel
Centers LLC. It is possible that variations in soil or groundwater conditions could exist beyond
points explored in this investigation. Also, changes in site conditions could occur in the future
due to variations in rainfall, temperature, regional water usage, or other factors.
Should you have questions regarding this submittal, please do not hesitate to contact me at
your earliest convenience at (707) 455-7290 or by email to tsparrowe@broadbentinc.com.
Sincerely,
BROADBENT & ASSOCIATES, INC.
'O
No. 5065
Thomas A.
