AST foundation(describe) concrete sub-floor,AT sits within a steel berm. Base of AST under UL 142
adequate to withstand the load of a full tank-Tank is anchored to wall. _,•___
8. AST anchoring(seismic zone/floatation risk)AST is anchored,with a steel earthquake strap around the tank
with 1/2 in.anchor bolts anchored into the concrete wall. with the steel strap being set at approximately 1-2
inches above% of the hei ht of the tank.. Stockton is a(groundshakinW potential liquefaction)seismic re ion
These anchors are intended to secure the tank during a seismic event. There are two o scenarios which would
create loads upon them. The first scenario is an em tank. With an emntv tank.the ex ansion anchors
resist the overturnine moment throueh their tensile(pull-out)capacity—Since the anchors are installed at the
perimeter of the tank, the distance between anchors(in either direction)provides a sufficient_lever arm for the
concrete anchors to not exceed their allowable pull-out capacity. The second load case is with a partially full
or full tank. In this scenario, because the liquid fills the bottom of the tank and increases its weight, the
eoverning load case becomes the shear capacity of the concrete expansion anchors In the shear loading, all
anchors resist the loads and their allowable capacity is not exceeded. This load case is conservative in its
analysis since it neelects the friction force created by the weight of the partially full or full tank. This tank's
rear is set in a corner, against the concrete walls, which further acts as a barrier to movement in the event of
an earthquake.AST is situated in secured lubricants room,at the Northern side of Service area. The tanks
are unlikely to move outside the room in a seismic event or a flooding event
