situated in secured lubricants room, at the basement Southwest side of Express Dube Service Area . The
tanks are unlikely to move outside the room in a seismic event-or a flooding event
9 . AST will withstand frost heave XX Yes No AST is looted is a covered secured lubricants enclosure
not subiect to weather conditions
10 . AST previously relocated? Yes XX No
11 . AST Corrosion Protection Tank is covered in paint, with no evidence of external corrosion . Tank has
no specific corrosion protection beyond the paint. No part of the AST touches the ground. The base of the
AST is steel, raised 4 inches from the concrete basement floor. There is no evidence of internal corrosion
taking place. Tank's construction material is carbon steel. As this tank is not in any contact with the ground,
there is no need for further corrosion protection such as cathodic corrosion protection.
12. AST Spill Prevention Equipment Tank has integral secondary containment. Filling operations are
conducted by product being initially drained into traveling containment boxes, which have ball valve shut offs
between quick connect hoses to Graco Husky 1040 supply hoses. _ Fill. operations to the tank are achieved by
pumping from the 4 Graco Husky 1040 pumps to the AST. There is an inline ball valve shut off at the supply
line at the tank. Product is not normally handled outside of intended containers, Additionally, there is a
small (20 gal . ) splash containment box beneath the stairs at the ends of the operations work platform , which is
pumped from the Graco Husky 1040 pumps to the AST.
13 . Overfill Protection : AST has continuous electronic monitoring. with electronic monitor BJ Enterprises
TM1 audible alarm for hi4evel detection . Alarm actuates and sound with a siren at 103dB when product
levels achieve 90°l° of tank capacity. AST has a Scully Gauge for daily product levels determination, which
read 14 inches at time of ins . cti4n, A rm _ s_teste and found to be in working condition. Manually ,
operated ball valves were tested and found to be free moving. Ball-valves were in the "open" position.
14a : Toxic Considerations : Used mineral-based crankcase oil is the brown4o-black, oily liquid removed from
the ellaine of a motor vehicle when the oil is changed. It is similar to unused oil except it contains additional
chemicals from its use as an engine lubricant. The chemicals in oil include hydrocarbons, which are distilled
from crude oil , and various additives that improve the oil's performance. Used oil also contains chemicals
formed when the oil is exposed to high temperatures and pressures inside an engine. It also contains some
Metals from engine parts and small amounts of gasolinp, antifreeze and chemicals that come from asoline
when it burns inside the engine.
Who Additional Hazardous Considerations : Waste Oil can be Ignitable & create fires under certain conditions,
are combustible, or have a flash point less than 60 °C (140 °F), in addition to a slightly corrosive hazard . which
can corrode & break down metals over long periods of exposure. It is not normally_ a reactive nor does it
generate targe amounts of vapors, which would be an additional fire hazard, however, this tank is fitted with a
2Anch atmospheric vent on the primary tank, which is properly sized, to this tank and the venting .
requirements as annotated for the listing thru Underwriter' s Laboratories. _ .
I5 . AST secondary containment (material/design/listed) AST has integral secondary containment via double
wall construction to completely capture any leaks from primary, vessel. Secondary containment was
inspected , is intact and AST is suitable for continued usage. AST sits within a secured-covered lubricants_
basement lower level . Leak detection is visually ascertained via visual inspection of secondary containment
area, and by Krueger Leak Detector. Steel thickness of the secondary containment was measured to .182 in0
steel thickness average. 20 points were measured on the tank. The basement containment capacity is 69,000+
gals. gross containment. The basement area of this building which acts as an additional "tertiary" or third
level containment was inspected is intact and AST is suitable for continued usage.
16. Damage to AST or systems. No damage reported by Owner/Operator. Upon inwetion, no evidence of
weld breaks, punctures, cracks, or other structural damage to the tank. Leak detection is assured via
inspections of the secondary containment. Steel thickness of the primary vessel was measured to . 182 in.
average.
