AST Primary vessel construction (describe) 120 gals/Waste Coolant/UL# Not Legible /UL142- Container/
Made to UL 142 construction standard-at le0st .093 in . steel thickness per UL Std for Safety for Steel
Aboveground Tanks for Flammable and Combustible Liquids, suitable for containing waste coolant
3 . AST piping (describe) lin. hydraulic hose to 1 in . elevated galvanized pine to 1 inch copper nine from
Graco pneumatic pump to 1 in , hydraulic hose to 2 in opening w/fitting, from pump for supply to top of
AST. There is an inline check valve between quick connect hose pick-up & pump. Piping is adequately
secured , supported & protected against physical damage and excessive stress due to settlement, vibration ,
expansion or contraction , & was tested , found to be in good condition & not leaking.
4 . AST drawing (provided/drawn : source) (see attached)
6. Design Standard (ASME, UL, etc.) UL 142 -Single Wall Steel /Mfr : Lube Cube
7. AST foundation (describe) , concrete subofloor, Base of AST under UL 142 adequate to withstand the load
of a full tank-Tank is anchored to wall.
8 . AST anchoring (seismic zone/floatation risk) AST is anchored. with a steel earthquake strap around the tank
with ''/s in. anchor bolts anchored into the concrete wall. with the steel strap being set at approximately '/ of
the height of the tank. . Stockton is a (groundshakina/ potential liquefaction) seismic region ,_ These anchors
are intended to secure the tank during a seismic event. There are two scenarios which would create loads upon
them . The first scenario is an empty tank. With an empty tank, the expansion anchors resist the overturning
moment through their tensile (pull-out) capacity. Since the anchors are installed at the perimeter of the tank,
the distance between anchors (in either direction)provides a sufficient lever arm for the concrete anchors to
not exceed their allowable pull-out capacity. The second load case is with a partially full or full tank. In_ this
scenario, because the liquid fills the bottom of the tank and increases its weight, the governing load case_
becomes the shear capacity of the concrete expansion anchors In the shear loading, all anchors resist the loads
and their allowable capacity is not exceeded . This load case is conservative in its analysis since it neglects the
friction force created by the weight of the partially full or full tank. This tank's rear is set in a corner, against
the concrete walls, which further acts as a barrier to movement in the event of an earthquake. AST is situated_
in secured lubricants room , at the Northern side of Service area. The tanks are unlikely to move outside the
room in a seismic event or a flooding event
