Ms. Nancy Bishop - 2 - 4 November 1998
As we discussed at our meeting, it is only necessary to extract groundwater from well EX-1 at this time.
However, you will be required to monitor the zone of influence of EX-1 during the first year of
operation. If this single extraction well is not able to remediate the second plume centered around well
MW-2, then you will also be required to extract and discharge groundwater from MW-2 (or from a new
extraction well in that area). To avoid the possibility of re-writing the NPDES permit, please complete
the RWD assuming that extraction is necessary from both areas.
In order to have your NPDES permit ready for consideration by the Board at its 12 March 1999 meeting,
the completed RWD must be submitted by 4 December 1998. If you have any questions, I can be
reached by telephone at (916) 255-3080 or by e-mail at wyelsw@rb5s.swrcb.ca.gov.
LQ'zf,I
WENDY WYELS
Site Cleanup Unit
Enclosure
cc w/enc.: Ms. Karen Streich, GeoSyntec Consultants, Walnut Creek
cc: Ms. Carol Oz, San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Stockton
Mr. Frank Fossati, Shell Oil Products, Santa Ana
Mr. Fred Strauss,Western Farm Service, Vernalis
