The hazardous <br />waste brake lathe shavings were also observed on the sides of the two brake lathes (see photos IMG 9843-8, <br />9854-7). <br />REGULATION GUIDANCE: A hazardous waste generator must maintain and operate its facility to minimize the <br />possibility of a fire, explosion, or any unplanned sudden or non -sudden release of hazardous waste or hazardous <br />waste constituents to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. <br />CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately clean-up the hazardous waste brake lathe shavings from the ground and <br />from the sides of the brake lathes and place the shavings into the designated hazardous waste containers on site. <br />Manage the waste according to Title 22 California Code of Regulations for hazardous waste. Submit a statement <br />and supporting documentation to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department describing the <br />storage and final disposition of the cleaned up waste. <br />This is a Class II violation. <br />303 <br />CCR 66265.33 Failed to maintain all communication or alarm systems, spill control, or decontamination <br />equipment. <br />OBSERVATION: The expiration date on the bottle of eye wash solution, observed in the eye wash station located <br />above a sink in the north-west end of the service bay area, was illegible (see photos IMG 9837-9). <br />REGULATION GUIDANCE: All facility communications or alarm systems, fire protection equipment, spill control <br />equipment, and decontamination equipment, where required, shall be tested and maintained as necessary to <br />assure its proper operation in time of emergency. <br />CORRECTIVE ACTION: Bring the eye wash station into proper working order by replacing the potentially expired <br />bottle of eye was solution.
