2-033 -A Site Summary- Fourteenmile Slough 2-033 -A <br /> Thomas Guide Location Latitude N Longitude W <br /> County: San Joaquin SF Bay and Delt 3800 121 25 <br /> USGSQuad: Stockton West, Holt NOAAchaH: 18661 SACRAMENTO/SAN JOAQUIN RIVER <br /> Last Page Update: 7/1/1996 <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION: <br /> From Morrison Island (at G 31 &33) on the Stockton Deep Water Channel, the site extends 4 miles <br /> northeasterly to a split. One channel continues east and south 6 miles to 1-5, the other northerly 6 miles to <br /> junction with Disappointment Slough. The first three miles are DMRP designated Natural Resource Area with <br /> Significant Habitat Values and a Significant Natural Area (CDFW-NHD). The Slough is laced with channels <br /> between natural marshy berm and channel islands including Morrison Island at the mouth. Levee banks are <br /> ripped and pocketed with emergent marshy/riparian growth. The upper Slough is less luxuriant. <br /> SEASONAL and SPECIAL RESOURCE CONCERN <br /> Marsh and riparian vegetation zones are of"A" concern year-round. Special Status Species are present: During <br /> Nov- Dec, modest numbers of Delta smelt (FT/SE); winter-run chinook (F/SE) are a modest concern from mid <br /> Oct 15- May; two rare plants. <br /> RESOURCES OF PRIMARY CONCERN <br /> Extensive and ecologically rich marshy margins, islands and riparian growths. Diversified aquatic community <br /> including T/E species and migrant fish. <br /> Bird life are typical marshy and riparian species including: waterbirds and marsh birds. <br /> Other vertebrates are typical riverine and semiaquatic species. This may be habitat for western pond turtle. <br /> During fall/winter Delta Smelt(FT/SE) have a modest presence. Juvenile and adult striped bass are typical as <br /> are warm water species. <br /> Rare plants include: California Hibiscus and Mason's lilaeopsis. <br /> CULTURAL.
