Peters, Jr. —Sr. Director- Environmental, Health & Safety <br /> 4.9.4 SECAT labels are not required for"Empty Daily"flip-top metal containers, or for <br /> fluorescent Universal Waste lamp boxes obtained through the EHS-approved <br /> fluorescent lamp mail-back program. <br /> 4.9.5 All Hazardous Waste Accumulation Containers shall be appropriately labeled on the <br /> side (not the top) with SECAT labels that have been signed (not initialed) by a DEA. <br /> 4.9.6 Only labels printed or re-printed from SECAT may be used on Hazardous Waste <br /> Accumulation Containers. Photocopies of SECAT labels are not permitted. <br /> 4.9.7 Accumulation Containers shall be arranged in the Central Accumulation Area and/or <br /> the Satellite Accumulation Areas so the SECAT labels can be clearly seen without <br /> moving the containers. <br /> 4.9.8 All Hazardous Waste Accumulation Containers shall be in sound condition and not <br /> leaking. <br /> 4.9.9 All Hazardous Waste Accumulation Containers shall be securely closed at all times <br /> except when emptying or filling (adding to)the Container. <br /> 4.9.10 No more than one spill of Hazardous Materials and associated spill cleanup material <br /> (e.g., absorbent) shall be placed into a single Accumulation Container. There shall <br /> be no mixing of spilled materials. <br /> 4.9.11 Hazardous Waste Accumulation Containers shall be placed and segregated within <br /> the Central Accumulation Area according to the Zone indicated on the SECAT label. <br /> 4.9.12 Boxes used for the accumulation of spent or waste fluorescent lamps shall remain <br /> securely closed (taped) except when adding additional intact lamps. <br /> 4.10 Incidental Spills <br /> 4.10.1 In the event of an Incidental Spill of Hazardous Materials, a DEA shall be summoned <br /> immediately to respond to the Incidental Spill. A Basic Spill Response Flow Chart is <br /> included as Appendix C of this Standard. <br /> 4.10.2 The associate who first discovers the spill or potential release shall take proactive <br /> measures to protect drains and waterways by using absorbent materials from the spill <br /> kit and may isolate the area to prevent access by others. <br /> 4.10.3 No materials except absorbent material from the spill kit may be used to isolate or <br /> clean up a spill. Prohibited absorbent materials include sand, soil, lime, cement <br /> products, or floor sweepings. <br /> 4.10.4 Only trained IDEAS or DECs shall initiate the clean-up of an incidental spill. <br /> 4.10.5 Spilled materials, absorbents, and other materials (including disposable PPE) used to <br /> clean up the spill shall be packed into an empty, lined Accumulation Container, with <br /> the appropriate SECAT label affixed to the container. <br /> Any printed copy of this document is an uncontrolled document.
