In Stockton has a variety of operations.The chemical production and storage,areas <br /> are located on hard surfaces: either concrete or asphalt. Manufacturing processes at the Sierra Chemical <br /> Co, facility`!nclude reacting chlorine with sodium hydroxide to create sodium hypochlorite, Each <br /> production and chemical storage area have been designed as a containment area. Outlined in the <br /> section below are the hazardous materials and processes used In each production and storage area. <br /> 1.2 Hazardous Materials and Processes <br /> Chlorine Room <br /> The chlorine room contains chlorine gas in a pressurized liquid form, a highly hazardous,materiai.The <br /> "liquid chlorine"is translocated from railcars, processed, repackedandstored within of near the <br /> chlorine building and specified areas in the Year for storage until transferred to customers.Sizes of the <br /> product range from cylinders,ton containers, and tank trucks. <br /> Warehouse <br /> The southwest region of the Warehouse is the sodium hypochlorite(bleach) packaging area.Spilled <br /> product is captured and pumped back into the manufacturing process through the containment in this <br /> area.All items located in the warehouse are packaged chemicals only and could include: <br /> • Oxidizers (Class 5.1) <br /> • Corrosives (Class 8) <br /> Poison-Keep Away(Class 6.1) <br /> Adjacent to the warehouse is a truck scale for weighing loads where possible spills could occur.This <br /> would most often be the following chemicals: <br /> • Sodium hypochlorite solution <br /> • hydrochloric acid <br /> •- sulfuric acid. <br /> • sodium hydroxide <br /> • sodium bisulfate ` <br /> Maintenance Shops <br /> The maintenance shops are used for general upkeep on pieces of equipment.
