04 August 2004 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 04-1168 <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br /> bsg Soil boring locations are depicted on Figure 2 <br /> 32 SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS <br /> Samples were collected from the borings at discrete five-foot intervals using a 1 125" Geoprobe soil <br /> I sampling assembly loaded with four six-inch brass sleeves For each soil sample collected,both ends <br /> of the second or other selected sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets,capped and sealed with tape <br /> The samples were labeled, stored on ice and transported under chain-of-custody to Cal Tech <br /> I Environmental Laboratories (CTEL) a State of California Department of Health Services (DHS)- <br /> certified analytical laboratory Selected samples were analyzed for <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA Method 8015 <br /> Modified, and <br /> I • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and the fuel additives methyl <br /> tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE), tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl <br /> tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME),1,2-dibromo ethane(EDB) <br /> and 1,2-dichloro ethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B <br /> I All sampling equipment was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed twice with water prior to <br /> each sampling run <br /> 33 SOIL LOGGING <br /> I After sample preservation,soil was extruded from the remaining sleeves and field-screened utilizing <br /> an organic vapor analyzer (OVA) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID Thermo <br /> Environmental 580B, 10 0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene) The soil was also described visually in <br /> I accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System Soil boring logs exhibiting soil profiles are <br /> depicted in Appendix A <br />' 4.0.
