I04 August 2004
AGE-NC Project No 04-1168
Page 4of5
41 STRATIGRAPHY
Due to the location of boring B 1 (tank pit)the first 10 to 12 feet of the boring was backfill material,
mainly pea gravel From 15 to 30 feet bsg an orange brown silt was encountered, the material had
little or no plasticity and low consistency with no moisture content Orange brown, slightly moist,
clayey silt was encountered from approximately 35 to 40 feet bsg and a slightly moist, olive brown
' silt was encountered at 45 feet bsg In boring B3 an orange brown silt, similar to that encountered
in B1, was encountered from surface grade to 20 feet bsg
I Hydrocarbon-like odor was detected in soil samples collected from boring B1 at 25 and 30 feet bsg
and boring B2 at 35 and 40 Organic vapor was detected by the OVM in soil samples collected from
borings B1 and B2 at concentrations as high as 439 parts per million(ppm), in sample B1-40 Soil
boring logs are provided in Appendix A
42 HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL
A total of five soil samples were analyzed for the petroleum hydrocarbon products listed in
Section 3 2 The following target analytes were detected
' • TPH-g was detected in soil samples collected from borings BI and B2 at a maximum
concentration of 500 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) in boring B1 at 25 feet bsg
• Toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in borings BI and B2 at maximum
' concentrations of 0 017 mg/kg toluene (B2-45), 0 017 mg/kg ethylbenzene (B2-45) and
6 3 mg/kg xylenes (B2-35)
' • EDB was detected in one soil sample at a concentration of 0 045 mg/kg (B2-35)
No other target analytes were detected at or above laboratory detection limits In any of the samples
' analyzed Analytical results of soil samples are summarized in Table 1 The laboratory report(CTEL
Project No CT214-0407130), quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) report and chain of
' custody forms are Included In Appendix B
' 5.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on the data collected from the site, AGE finds
IIn general, orange brown silt was encountered from surface grade to 20 feet bsg Orange
brown, slightly moist, clayey silt was encountered from approximately 35 to 40 feet bsg and
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
1
